Top 9 Terminal Codes by FSherratt

TOP 9 TERMINAL CODES  Sunday 31st May 2009

Terminal is the mac version of C-prompt and can do the same things as c-prompt.
1. Well lets start off basic with this amazing piece of code type this is to bring up a animated version of starwars.

2. Do you love your screensaver a bit to much well you can have it as your background as well with this one. Just enter this code
/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ -background

3. If your bored of the safari loading bar you can change it to a pie chart with this one
defaults write DebugUsePieProgressIndicator -bool true

4. Probably the best terminal code this allows you to add widgets to your desktop
defaults write devmode YES

5. This is a really pointless one and wouldn’t suggest testing to see whether it works but if you want to enable quit on finder this is how.
defaults write QuitMenuItem -bool YES
killall Finder

6.  Its just what it says on the tin
say hello

7. This is a really useful one. It so simple but effective. It turns your hidden application mildly transparent.
defaults write showhidden -bool YES
killall Dock

8. If your bored of the spotlight icon in the corner then this one may be useful
sudo chmod 0 /System/Library/CoreServices/
killall Spotlight

9. If you want your screen shots to be a different format then this is how to do it.
defaults write type jpg

So thats my top 9 terminal codes.
